Want Real Change? Here’s the First Step You’re Missing

I was at a coffee shop waiting for my order. The line was looong, and I suspect the barista was new to her role. A woman, probably in her late 30s?, stepped up to the counter and looked a bit lost. She didn’t seem sure of what to order. I could see the hesitation on her face, so I decided to strike up a conversation. “What looks good?” I asked. She mentioned a drink she had never tried before. I could tell she was second-guessing herself.
I told her that I've tried it and like it and think that most people would. As we chatted more about our drink preferences, I learned she had just moved to the area and was looking for a routine to make her mornings feel more established. I shared with her how I’ve always found little rituals—like choosing a coffee, listening to a podcast, or even taking a walk in the morning—could help set the tone for the day ahead. Something about that simple moment, connecting with someone over a cup of coffee, reminded me of how much we, as humans, yearn for connection and purpose.
This experience, as small as it seemed, got me thinking about how many of us go through life, especially when it comes to health and wellness, just feeling… lost. We’re not sure where to start, what to try, or whether the changes we make will stick. I hear it all the time: “I’ve tried everything and nothing works.” Or, “I just don’t know where to begin.”
So, I want to share some simple thoughts with you about how you can start making lasting changes, even if you feel like you're standing in front of a new menu.
1. Start with small rituals.Small habits are the foundation of transformation. Whether it’s having a nutritious breakfast, scheduling a walk, or drinking more water, these rituals are simple, but they can build momentum.
2. Focus on mindset, not just the result.Yes, we all want to lose weight or feel healthier, but what about how we see ourselves in the process? Mindset is everything. If you don’t believe that true change is possible, you’ll struggle to stay committed. I help clients shift from a place of frustration to one of possibility, where they see themselves succeeding and living healthier lives.
3. Get support.Change is tough to do alone. Without accountability, we can get distracted, discouraged, or fall back into old patterns. Whether it’s having someone check in on your progress, join you for a workout, or encourage you to stay on track, the support system you have in place will make all the difference.
And yes, this is where I come in. If you’ve been trying to figure it out on your own or if you’re tired of feeling stuck in a loop of starting over, I’m here to help. My programs are designed to give you the structure, the tools, and the support you need to create real change. If you or someone you know is ready to break free from the cycle of frustration, I encourage you to schedule a free discovery call with me. Together, we can start creating a plan that works for you—a plan that fits your lifestyle and aligns with your goals.
Sometimes, all it takes is a little nudge, just like in that coffee shop, to help you make the first step toward something greater.
